why foster with us?

support and rewards

finance and allowances

Becoming a foster carer with our team at Foster Wales Neath Port Talbot, means you’ll also receive some competitive financial allowances. These will be based on a number of factors like the type of fostering you offer, how many children or young people you’re caring for, and for how long.

Foster carers within Neath Port Talbot receive different levels of payment dependent on factors like these. For example, a placement of two older teenagers would provide an allowance of £795.00 per week.

other benefits

There are many more benefits to being a foster carer too. As well as the emotional reward and the ongoing support mentioned already, you’ll also get:

  • Access to our therapeutic team (based within The Fostering Service), including a psychologist.
  • Access to IT equipment through our E-Care project.
  • Length of service recognition awards.
  • Membership for the fostering household to our local Celtic Leisure facilities.
  • Access to the Neath Port Talbot Foster Carer Association.

the foster wales national commitment

On top of these benefits, if you join Foster Wales, you’ll benefit from a nationwide program of training, rewards and ongoing support which all 22 Local Authorities have signed up to. This is called the National Commitment.

fostering community

Community is everything to us at Foster Wales. You’ll be invited to local events, regular activities and other meet-ups that will bring you closer with other carers and children.

We’ll also pay for a membership to both the The Fostering Network (TFN) and the Association for Fostering and Adoption (AFA) Cymru. We really believe these are the best fostering organisations to offer extensive advice, guidance and support as well as a whole range of other benefits.

shaping the future

Our team believes in focusing on the present and a brighter future for every young person in care, not the past. As a foster carer you’ll become a vital part of the present and future of a child in your care.

We’ll also make sure your voice is heard on a local, regional and even national level, involving you in the decision making for Foster Wales and all future processes we create. We want our carers to tell us what life is like as a foster parent and keep us informed.

You’ll also be kept up to date with regular news and information from the wider industry.
